Primary School Liaison

Primary Cluster Dance Festival on Friday 26th February

A fantastic performance all round was given by both John Masefield Sixth Form students and the pupils from Eastnor and Cradley Primary Schools on Friday.
The day started off with a brilliant performance of a “Bollywood” routine performed by years 3 and 4 of Cradley primary school. This was thoroughly enjoyable to watch and the effort put in by the students was tremendous.

Next up was Years 3 and 4 of Eastnor primary school performing to “True Colours” showing what they had been learning about in lessons and including sections of dance based upon their findings in woodlands outside of school.
Year 5 and 6 from Eastnor performed next, to a song from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” based closely on the characteristics of pirates including swashbuckling movements and dramatic fighting. Their enthusiasm was outstanding and highly praised by all of the other performers.

Lastly the Sixth Form Students took this opportunity to perform their Disney themed show including dances from “The Lion King,” “High School Musical” and “Toy Story” as well as other favourite Disney films. After spending two months choreographing these duets, quartets and group pieces, the group of A- level Dance students were really pleased with how the audience responded, as well as receiving praise from Mrs Goodall, who worked hard with choreography, spent a lot of time organising the event, as well as providing the costumes and making the performance an overall success.

KS3 Drama Club visit to local Primary Schools

Ms Taylor's KS3 drama club took their play 'Pandora's Box' out to three local primary schools this term. We visited y5/6 at Ashperton, y1 at Cradley and y6 at Eastnor. Each school was treated to a performance of the play,  with excellent acting from all involved, and then the primary children took part in a workshop run by JMHS students.  The younger children really enjoyed their work, and our students were a credit to the school, working really hard and enjoying themselves. Well done to all concerned.

Pyramid Prom – Monday 22nd March 2010

All our local Primary schools met at JMHS for the annual Pyramid Prom. This year there were many different performances – School Orchestras, Choirs, Brass Groups, Woodwind Groups, an African Drum Ensemble and a Hand Bells Ensemble to name but a few. The JMHS Sixth Form Band performed a composition by Ewan Onions followed by Candy Dulfer’s ‘Lily Was Here’ and they helped organise all the Primary pupils for their performances. A ‘full house’ enjoyed the concert showcasing the musical ability of their pupils. We will look forward to the talented musicians from the Primary Schools moving up to JMHS in the future.
