Year 9

 The vast majority of Year 9 students commence their GSCE studies in English and Maths.

 In Year 9 all students study an ICT course which is equivalent to one GSCE subject.Students in Year 9 can also opt to take the Arts Award which allows them to specialize in either Dance or Drama.During Year 9 students begin to consider their options for Year 10 and 11 courses.  The Options programme usually begins in January and its aim is to provide high quality support, advice and guidance to students as they approach making important decisions about the subjects they wish to study.At JMHS we are committed to:• Providing choice and flexibility in the options process so that students and parents can tailor the curriculum to meet their strengths as learners and their career aspirations.
• Supporting students in making the right choices through providing high quality information, guidance and support.
• Ensuring that students have access to a wide rang of subjects and qualifications that are challenging, motivating and rewarding.
• Equipping students with the skills and competencies that enable them to confidently meet the challenges of working and living in the twenty-first century.
• Offering progression beyond Year 11

Head of Key Stage Three (Years 7, 8, and 9) is Mr P Hammond to whom all queries regarding Year 9 should be made. 

Any queries regarding the options process should be made to the Head of Key Stage Four (Years 10 and 11) Mr A Williams.
